TACKLE
FOOTBALL
JTA Football is a contact sport open to all youth who will be in Kindergarten-7th grade. You MUST reside in the Jenks Public School District to participate.
What to expect
Expect to focus on fundamental skills while also developing teamwork, an understanding of the rules, and exploring different positions on the field, all while building your strength, stamina and agility to perform effectively in a game.
Basic Skills: Mastering fundamental techniques like stance, blocking technique, passing, receiving, and an understanding of the X’s and O’s are crucial.
Drills and Exercises: Coaches will guide players through drills to practice specific skills like footwork, blocking, route running, and reading opponents plays.
Teamwork: Football is a team sport, so learning to communicate with teammates, anticipate their movements, and work together to achieve goals is essential.
Positional Understanding: Exploring different positions on the field (e.g., receiver, lineman, defender) to understand the unique responsibilities and tactics associated with each role.
Physical Fitness: Building stamina, agility, speed, and strength through training exercises to perform well during the game.
Game Strategy: Learning the rules of the game, understanding formations, and developing tactical awareness to make smart decisions on the field.
Adaptability: Being able to change direction quickly, react to opponent's movements, and adjust your play based on the situation.
Proper Gear: Wearing appropriate footwear (cleats), shoulder pads, girdle (thigh pads), chin straps, and a ball suitable for the age level is important for safety and performance.
Progressive Learning: Starting with simple drills and gradually progressing to more complex plays as your skills develop.
Practice and Repetition: Consistent training and practice are key to improving your football skills and building muscle memory.

INFC RULE
Note on INFC Rule - if your son attends a school other than Jenks (even though you may live in the Jenks district) they are required to play for the football club associated with that school. In certain cases a release may be granted (for example, if your child has been playing for JTA for a few years already). If you fall into this category, please ask your child's school what football club he needs to register with or contact Casey McDonald, Vice President of Tackle Football, at 512-300-5424. This rule was put into place by INFC and Jenks does not have any control over the outcome of releases.
